Ladies and gentlemen,
dear friends of phonoTAKTIK,
We are delighted about your interest in our small festival in New York.
The
fact that phonoTAKTIK has become known as the most innovative music festival
worldwide is not only due to our constant efforts to present the most
recent
trends in electronic music. Above all, we try to examine the conditions
in
which artists develop and present their work. That is why we became very
interested in our new task, i.e. moving the festival from Vienna to another
city. phonoTAKTIK.2002, the first festival outside of Vienna, is devoted
to
"the social construction of technology" and will take place
in New York. The
festival will explore the New York ambiance from the point of view of
artists who have just arrived in the city.
Fascinated by a world in which every process seemingly can only be performed
with just one method, phonoTAKTIK can be compared to a visitor that is
willing to learn. The festival will be structured like a diary of a group
of
open-minded travelers. 33 musicians will familiarize themselves with a
city
and its inhabitants from April 23 to 29.
