Dear Mr.Schaefer

I am really pleased of having found your un-official page on the webb. I am
a spanish woman who has been living in XXXXXXX for the last 3 years and it
is here where I decided not to carry on in being a member of the OD. I
discovered the OD when I was 17 or 18 and wanted to have "something inside"
apart from money and fun.I knew someone from the OD and being naive and
stupid I called her and asked her for advice.I confessed with a priest from
the Work and from this moment I became involved with them. For a period of
2-3 years, I was like their child but I was sure that I wasn't interested in
being a member. Then, after all this time fighting(because this is a
fight!!),I finally "saw" that I had a "vocation".I have been a
supernumeraria and ALSO a numeraria so I really know quite a lot about the
two sides of the story. I am very realistic and I like to use my brain, but
I was not allowed to do it so within the OD.I was studing in a Catholic
University(Jesuits),and I wasn't allowed to read all the books that were on
my reading list.Maybe I shoudn't have done it, but I read all of them and
they knew it because this is something I was arguing about:I did not want to
see one side of the coin, but for them this is unacceptable.

I could tell you hundreds of situations that really shocked me but I don't
want to pester you. In London, I decided that I did not want to stay, so I
left it, but it took me YEARS to take the decision because we can not forget
that we are talking about "throwing your vocation by the window", and you
don't want to be miserable for the rest of your life... I realised that I
had taken the right one the very same day, because so far I have only felt
better and better about it. I am still in touch with some people from the OD
because I consider them as my friends, even if we do not agree in this
subject. As you said, the People are very good, and I don't think that I
could find better than them, but they are in the wrong place... Something
positive about the OD is that they are good human beings and they teach you
how to be one as well. All the aspects of being a good
friend, mother, sister, charity, and specially to listen to the others.I learnt
that from them, but they use it for their own goals. As I mentioned I have
lived many situations, so if you are interested please do not hesitate in
contact me.

Thank you very much for your time,

   XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX
