After some hours of detention, interrogatory and police report setting up Attila VAJNAI has been released from hungarian police Saturday afternoon. The president of Hungarian Movement for Democratic Society (TDM), a member organisation of Hungarian Social Forum active in the European Social Forum, has been detained and questioned together with an other friend because of red star distinctive on their cloth. Hungarian law forbids the use of "symbols of dictatorship", considering the red star as one of them. Police of 5th district of Budapest has proceeded against Vajnai and the other man during a ceremony of commemoration at the monument of soviet soldiers died in World War II for the liberation of Hungary from nazi occupation. The ceremony has been organised on the occasion of 4th April, the day of the end of World War II in Hungary. (Soviet monument is decorated - among other communist symbols - by a red star.) Vajnai told, that he was badly treated by police officer, who has refused to give him a cup of water, when he asked for it. Officer was quated as saying that he had no cup. During the interrogatory Vajnai was seized by an indisposition because of thrist. Officer has called an Ambulance car, deteined has been examined, his pressure controlled. For order of doctor police officer has finally offered a cup of water to Vajnai. President of TDM has presented complaint because of bad treatment. Vajnai has answered by not to the question of interrogant officer wether he considered himself guilty.
