Pro-europäisch und EU-kritisch. Erkundungen für eine emanzipatorische Politik Termin: Montag, 13. Oktober 2008, 18:30 Uhr Ort: Depot, Breite Gasse 3, 1070 Wien
Nach dem Nein Irlands zum EU-Reformvertrag reichte die Stimmungslage von euphorischer Freude bis zu resignativer Ernüchterung. Doch wer jubelte hier aus welchen Gründen und wer fürchtete um das "europäische Projekt"? Die ins Feld geführten Gründe für die Ablehnung waren ebenso widersprüchlich wie die Gründe für die Zustimmung. Daraus ergibt sich der dringende Bedarf, das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen EU-Kritik, Nationalismus und pro- europäischer Haltung zu klären. Der Diskussionsabend will sich der Herausforderung stellen, Leitlinien für eine Politik zu diskutieren, die sich klar vom nationalistischen Konzept des "Europa der Vaterländer" abgrenzt, ohne zugleich ein "Europa der Konzerne" zu befürworten. Was kann etwa der zunehmenden Vernetzung der Rechtsextremen auf europäischer Ebene, der Renaissance einer Nationalstaatsfixiertheit und der Beschwörung des Islam als neuerliche Bedrohung für das "Abendland" entgegen gesetzt werden? Wie lässt sich in dieser konkreten historischen Phase eine emanzipatorische Politik formulieren, die sich als EU-kritisch und pro-europäisch versteht?
