Because of a red star badge on his cloth during a commemoration of 16th anniversary of the death of Janos Kadar, vice president of the Hungarian Workers Party (Munkaspart) Attila Vajnai has been detained in the cimetery of Fiumei utca on saturday morning by police of 8th district in Budapest. Hungary is the only country of the EU where law is banning the use of red star, as a "symbol of autocracy". Because the same "crime" a year ago, Vajnai has been processed, but the hungarian court of justice has requested the opinion of the European Court of Justice, considering the collision between the hungarian and the european law. (Opinion was not given up to now.) About fifty activists of Munkaspart have joined the police asking the immediate release of Vajnai. Immediately a protest against his detention and a petition for his release has been signed and presented to the press by Andrea Molnar, the president of LAET (People Living below the Social Minimum), Endre Simo of the HSF cwg, which includes also the Movement for the Democracy in Society (TDM) led by Attila, philosopher MG Tamas, sociologist Erzsebeth Szalai, the editor in chief of the review Mozgó Világ, Julianna Szucs P. and the charge of affairs of Hungarian Socialist Party's Socio- political Sector (TPT) Andras Rozsa. Vajnai has been released by the police Saturday afternoon. He has been kicked when obliged to enter the police car, and during his detention he was hold in leash - I was told by him after his release.
