Ein ehemaliger Häftling berichtet Länge: 3:21 min
Sie waren zwischen zehn bis 25 Jahre alt, und sie waren nach den Vorstellungen des NS-Regimes "gemeinschaftsfremd" - die rund 3.000 Häftlinge der beiden Jugend-Konzentrationslager Moringen und Uckermark in Deutschland. Über deren Existenz wissen heute die Wenigsten. Die meisten der Überlebenden kämpfen noch immer um Entschädigung oder Anrechnung der Haftzeit für ihre Pension. Verdrängt, aber nicht vergessen Dem deutschen Sozialpädagogen Martin Guse ist es zu verdanken, dass die verdrängte und vergessene Geschichte der Jugend-Konzentrationslager Moringen und Uckermark heute aufgearbeitet ist. Während seines Studiums in den 1980er Jahren lernt Guse sechs ehemalige Häftlinge aus Moringen kennen, die für ihre Pensionsanträge Bestätigungen für die Zeit zwischen 1940 und 1945 suchten.
Seit damals recherchiert Guse über das völlig unbekannte Thema. Daraus entstehen gerade eine Diplomarbeit und die Wanderausstellung, die nun in der Wiener Urania zu sehen ist.
"Spezielle KZ für Jugendliche? Nie gehört!" Und doch hat es diese Lager unter dem Namen "Jugendschutzlager" gegeben, wie die Ausstellung "Wir hatten noch gar nicht angefangen zu leben" in der Wiener Urania anschaulich dokumentiert.
Gründe und Ziele für Einweisungen "Jugendschutzzentren", so lautet damals die genaue Bezeichnung der beiden Konzentrationslager Moringen und Uckermark. Betrieben werden sie von der SS. Verantwortlich für die Einweisung der Jugendlichen sind Fürsorger und Sozialarbeiter, die "auffällige" Kinder zur Einweisung vorschlagen. Schon die Verweigerung des Dienstes bei HJ oder BDM, Arbeitsverweigerung, Arbeitsbummelei, Renitenz oder Unerziehbarkeit machen dabei die Jugendlichen zu "Gemeinschaftsfremden". Ebenso spielen eugenische, religiöse oder rassische Gründe, politische Opposition, Widerstand, aber auch die Zugehörigkeit zur so genannten "Swing-Jugend", die amerikanischen Jazz hört, eine Rolle. Bei den Mädchen wird oft auch "sexuelle Verwahrlosung" angeführt.
Welche Gründe auch immer für die Einlieferung nach Moringen oder Uckermark genannt werden - stets geht es darum, den Willen der Jugendlichen zu brechen. Dazu gehören Appelle, Drill, Strafen und Disziplinarmaßnahmen. Jeder Verstoß gegen die Lagerordnung wird drakonisch bestraft und in den SS-Akten vermerkt: "Man war nur mehr eine Nummer", erinnert sich Zeitzeuge Leopold Dietrich, der von 1942 bis 1945 in Moringen die Nummer 701 trägt. Grund für seine Einweisung: die monarchistischen Verbindungen seines Bruders. Zu Zwangsarbeit verurteilt Das 1940 errichtete Lager Moringen ist für die Burschen bestimmt. Für die Mädchen wird 1942 in der Nähe des Konzentrationslagers Ravensbrück das Lager Uckermark errichtet, das dem Lagerkommandanten von Ravensbrück untersteht.
Unterricht oder Bildung ist für die jungen Menschen, die meist mitten aus ihrer Ausbildung herausgerissen worden sind, nicht vorgesehen. In erster Linie wird die Arbeitskraft der Jugendlichen ausgenützt - zunächst als Erziehungsmaßnahme, dann als Zwangsarbeit, von der Betriebe, SS und der deutsche Staat profitieren. Erbbiologe für Selektion verantwortlich Eine Besonderheit der beiden Jugend-KZ Moringen und Uckermark ist deren Anbindung an das System der Kriminalbiologie von Dr. Dr. Robert Ritter. Jener Psychiater arbeitet schon in den 1930er Jahren an "erbbiologischen Forschungen zu Vagabunden, Gaunern und Räubern". 1936 wird er Direktor der "rassenhygienischen und bevölkerungsbiologischen Forschungsstelle" des Reichsgesundheitsamtes. Er hat die Aufgabe, sämtliche "Zigeuner" im Reichsgebiet zu erfassen und zu begutachten.
Ab 1941 wird Robert Ritter zum leitenden Kriminalbiologen in den Jugend-Konzentrationslagern. Er ist für die Selektion der Jugendlichen verantwortlich und entscheidet über Zwangssterilisierung, Überstellung in Vernichtungslager und Einteilung zur Arbeit. Er ist auch maßgeblich daran beteiligt, dass schätzungsweise jeder zehnte Jugendliche in Moringen ums Leben kommt. Über Uckermark gibt es kaum verlässliche Quellen. Prolongiertes Unrecht Bis zum Jahr 1970 dauerte es, bis Uckermark und Moringen offiziell als ehemalige Konzentrationslager anerkannt werden. Die meisten der ehemaligen Häftlinge kämpfen Jahrzehnte lang unter entwürdigenden Bedingungen um Entschädigung oder Anrechnung der Haftzeit für ihre Pension. Das Argument der Behörden: Die Jugendlichen fallen nicht unter die Kategorien einer rassischen, politischen oder religösen Verfolgung.
Die Verantwortlichen für die beiden Jugend-KZ bleiben nach 1945 weitgehend straflos oder machen sogar Karriere. In den 1950er und 1960er Jahren gibt es vereinzelte Verfahren; die meisten werden jedoch eingestellt. Text: Judith Brandner

"Wir hatten noch gar nicht angefangen zu leben"
Die von Martin Guse aus Liebenau (BRD) konzipierte und realisierte Wanderausstellung ist den Häftlingen der Jugendkonzentrationslager gewidmet, die im Alter von ca. 15 bis 25 Jahren in diese so genannten "polizeilichen Jugendschutzlager" gebracht wurden. Sie thematisiert die Lebenswege und Schicksale der jugendlichen Häftlinge in den KZ Moringen und Uckermark, die auch als "vergessene Lager" bezeichnet werden. Aufgrund politischer, religiöser, rassistischer und - vor allem - sozialer Verfolgung wurden Mädchen in Uckermark und Buben in Moringen als so genannte "Gemeinschaftsfremde" inhaftiert. Nahezu 3.000 Kinder und Jugendliche wurden aus ihren Lebenszusammenhängen gerissen und dem SS-Terror, der kriminalbiologischen Selektion und der Zwangsarbeit ausgesetzt. Sie kamen aus allen Teilen des "Reiches" und aus den von deutschen Truppen überfallenen Ländern. Fürsorgerinnen und Erzieher, Polizei, Haus- und Blockwarte, Nachbarn und Bekannte, Arbeitgeber und Lehrherren: Viele beobachteten, registrierten und denunzierten den Lebensstil, das "unbotmäßige" und auffällige Verhalten oder die antinazistische Einstellung der Buben und Mädchen. Vor allem Jugendämter und Erziehungsheime nutzten die Möglichkeit, missliebige Jugendliche aus der Heimerziehung auszusondern und in die Jugend-KZ zu überstellen.

Führungen durch die Ausstellung sind nach Vereinbarung möglich. d.. Am 23., 30. März und am 5. April jeweils um 10.30 Uhr besteht die Möglichkeit, einem Zeitzeugen zu begegnen: Leopold Dietrich, war 4 Monate in Haft in Wien, weitere 33 Monate verbrachte er im Jugend-KZ Moringen. Im "Reichsrundfunk" wurde der Swing verboten, und im Alltag zunehmend gegen die Musik und ihre Anhänger gehetzt und polemisiert. Dennoch gab es eine große Anzahl Jugendlicher, die ihrer Leidenschaft für Swing und Jazz frönten.
