8. Mai: Ein Fest zur Befreiung beim Denkmal der Roten Armee am Schwarzenbergplatz in Wien
Kundgebung im Andenken an die NS-Opfer und in Dankbarkeit gegenüber den alliierten BefreierInnen
Auf Initiative der Basisgruppe Politikwissenschaft und der Ökologischen Linken veranstaltet ein breites Bündnis aus antifaschistischen Gruppen und Einzelpersonen am Donnerstag, dem 8. Mai um 18 Uhr eine Kundgebung am Schwarzenbergplatz.
Aus Anlass des Jahrestages der Kapitulation der Deutschen Wehrmacht soll der Sieg der alliierten Truppen über die deutsch- österreichischen Angriffs- und Vernichtungskrieger gefeiert werden.
Für die unzähligen Menschen, die in ständiger Angst vor Deportation, Lager und Vernichtung im Untergrund lebten und für jene, die aus den Lagern noch befreit werden konnten, ging ein Alptraum zu Ende.
Mit der militärischen Niederlage des Dritten Reiches endete der Raub- und Vernichtungsfeldzug, mit welchem die NS- Volksgemeinschaft fast ganz Europa überzogen hat. Ohne der militärischen Intervention von außen und dem Widerstand in den besetzten Ländern wäre das NS-Unrechtsregime nicht gestürzt worden.
Bis zuletzt verfolgte es mit Unterstützung weiter Bevölkerungskreise sein zentrales Projekt, die Vernichtung der Juden und Jüdinnen.
Am 8. Mai soll daher nicht nur den BefreierInnen gedankt, sondern auch der Millionen Opfern der NS-Gewaltherrschaft gedacht werden. Erinnert werden soll darüber hinaus an die alliierten SoldatInnen und die WiderstandskämpferInnen, die im Kampf gegen die Nazi-Barbarei ihr Leben ließen.
Das gilt insbesondere für den Einsatz der Roten Armee, die ihren Beitrag zur Befreiung mit dem höchsten Blutzoll bezahlte.
Während das offizielle Österreich sich erst im Oktober 1955 "befreit" sieht und Rechtsextreme vom 8. Mai überhaupt gleich als Tag der "totalen Niederlage" sprechen, soll mit der Veranstaltung auch ein deutliches Zeichen gegen alle Umdeutungsversuche der Vergangenheit gesetzt werden.
Heribert Schiedel vom Dokumentationsarchiv des österreichischen Widerstandes (DÖW): "In der Positionierung zum 8. Mai und den Alliierten zeigt sich bis heute die Nähe oder Distanz zum Nationalsozialismus."
Die VeranstalterInnen freuen sich besonders, dass ehemalige jüdische Kämpfer in der Roten Armee an der Feier teilnehmen werden. Der Vorsitzende ihrer Organisation, Sasha Bergelsohn, wird darüber hinaus eine Rede halten.
Neben weiteren Redebeiträgen wird die Schauspielerin Hannah Fröhlich aus Zeitzeugnissen lesen. Umrahmt wird die Veranstaltung mit Musik.
